Subaru unveils the seventh-gen Legacy at 2019 Chicago Auto Show
KUALA LUMPUR: Just a few days after the images of the 2020 Subaru Legacy were posted online, the D-segment sedan has made its debut at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show. The sedan is based on the Subaru Global Platform.
The all-new Subaru Legacy looks identical to its predecessor, while a few parts get a new design. The front fascia comes with a hexagonal frameless grille. The C-shaped headlamps get LED DRLs and windscreen is larger than before. The tail light cluster, however, appears smaller and the trunk surface gets a smooth connection with the C-pillars.
The interior of the brand-new 2020 Legacy is redesigned utterly. It comes with a new three-tier dash. The seats are wrapped in premium quality Nappa leather, which, however, are only present on higher models.
An 11.6-inch tablet-style touchscreen is placed on the dash and is connected with the infotainment system. The infotainment system even works as the control for the HVAC. However, the base models feature a dual 7-inch display that sits between the multimedia and HVAC controls.
The screen is huge and takes up a lot of space. Not only that, the air vents now get a new position on either side. The doors get weatherstrips, and the sound-insulated glass is now thicker.
As the car is based on the Subaru Global Platform, the rear legroom, front shoulder room, and front and rear hip room are increased. The manufacturer claims that it has a cargo capacity of 427-litre, so four full-size roller bags can be placed easily.
The vehicle rides on 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels and all get ventilated disc brakes. Speaking of its power plant, a 2.4-litre turbocharged mill will be present under the hood. It is the same engine powering the fifth-generation model.
