Subaru to introduce its first EV by 2025
KUALA LUMPUR: We have heard before that Subaru is looking to introduce its first-ever electric vehicle, but nothing solid came out from the automaker that could make us curious. However, this time around the automaker has released the car in metal and revealed that by the year 2025, Subaru first EV will enter the market.
The image released is good enough to give us an idea of what the automaker is up to. The automaker’s plans towards electrification and by 2030, Subaru wants to sell 40 per cent of cars in electric or hybrid versions. To be able to realize its goals, the company has joined hands with Toyota for the development of its electric vehicles.
The first Subaru EV would climb up a generation of a current model or would be added to the present-day range is still unknown. You can see the future XV to be released as a fully electric model in the times to come as the model in the photo seems to have similar roofline. The 2025 Forester is another possibility to come with a pure electric powertrain.
While the automaker is on the right track to building more electric cars than ever before, we are likely to see stiffer competition in this space in the years to come. With wider distribution globally, Subaru is also strengthening its foothold in the automotive arena. The automaker already sells hybrid versions of the Forester and the XV, hence, it’s only a matter of a few years when it adds more electric and hybrid models in its line-up.
