SPIED: 2017 Subaru Impreza Sedan Spotted Undergoing Road Tests

Kuala Lumpur: Subaru has recently unveiled the 5-door concept of the next-generation 2017 Subaru Impreza at the ongoing Tokyo Motor Show and the design cues of the concept are said to feature in both hatchback and sedan versions of next-gen Impreza. While the spy shots of the hatchback version of 2017 Subaru Impreza undergoing road test have already been leaked online, the sedan version of next-gen Impreza has been spied for the first time.

The sedan version of 2017 Subaru Impreza was spotted heavily-camouflaged just like its hatchback version but the front fascia of both versions look similar to the concept's thicker grille and slimmer headlamps partially exposed through the camouflage. The shape of A-pillar is also identical to that of the concept.

When viewed from the side, the small trapezoid-shaped window is also matching to what we have seen on the concept. The only thing which doesn't look similar to the concept is the crease running along the sides of the concept is not featured on the test mule which flaunts a more conventional design and fitted with the door-handles, unlike its concept.

At the rear, the test mule of next-gen Subaru Impreza sedan features the same tailgate as shown in the spy shots of the hatchback test mule. The partially-exposed tailgate is most likely to feature a C-Shaped Design, however, it's unclear how much it will resemble that on the concept. The next-generation Subaru Impreza will make its Global Debut in 2017.

The information about the platform is still undisclosed, but we can expect the new Subaru Global Platform. Also, there is no official information about the powertrain and the most likely ones are the current 1.6L and 2.0L naturally aspirated flat-four engines, a turbocharged 1.6L boxer engine, or even a hybrid version. The power transmission can be expected either through a manual gearbox or a Lineartronic CVT.
