Sime Motors and Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia launch AutoArena to promote EV adoption

KUALA LUMPUR:  In an unprecedented move, Sime Motors (formerly known as Sime Darby Motors)  and Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia have come together to push the greener future agenda, by announcing a partnership aimed at promoting sustainable transportation.

The collaboration was unveiled in style with AutoArena, a first-of-its-kind automotive showcase held at Malaysia’s National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, 10th January 2025.

Spanning three days, the event features a large lineup of brands under Sime Motors’ portfolio, including BMW, MINI, BYD, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Land Rover, and more. It also includes an array of premium pre-owned vehicles from Auto Selection.

According to Sime Motors, this kind of event will not just be a one-off spectacle; as it’s the first of many automotive events planned in collaboration between the conglomorate and Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia.

As part of the partnership, Sime Motors is lending two EVs to Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia for two years to support their stadium operations.

The deal also includes the installation of an EV charging station at the stadium, which will benefit not only stadium staff and visitors but also the surrounding community.

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia for Sime Motors, emphasized the significance of the initiative:

“EV adoption continues to grow in Malaysia, and this is reflected by the continued rise in EV sales, particularly in 2024. By collaborating with Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia, we are not only supporting their operational needs with sustainable vehicles but also providing accessibility to our broader community with EV charging infrastructure. This initiative aligns with the government’s aim of increasing EV adoption by 2030 and helps foster greater awareness and understanding of the benefits of EV ownership for Malaysians.”

Gan also highlighted Sime Motors’ capabilities in hosting unique events like AutoArena, saying it’s a natural extension of their long-standing experience and expertise in the automotive sector.

For Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia, this partnership is about more than just cars. It’s an opportunity to showcase sustainability on a national stage.

Event Details

AutoArena runs daily from now, until Sunday, January 12, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors can explore a variety of vehicles, enjoy exclusive promotions, and kick off 2025 with a stylish new ride.

All of SiME Motors' brands are there, including Volvo, Land Rover, BYD, Jaguar, BMW and Hyundai. Not only is there an opportunity to snap up brand new vehicles, but Sime has also opened up a booth for their pre-used vehicles under the Auto Selection brand.
