Second-gen Nissan Juke revealed
Almost after a decade, the second-generation Nissan Juke is finally revealed by the Japanese automaker. The original Juke has amazed the market with its funky styling and crossed the sales figures of one million units in Europe alone. The all-new Juke has made its official premiere in five cities across the continent including London, Milan, Paris, Barcelona, and Cologne.
The automaker specifies the new version as larger and lighter. The coupe crossover is now based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s CMF-B platform, the same as the new Renault Captur. This version is 85 mm longer and 170 mm wider makes the vehicle 4,210 mm long and 1,800 mm wide. Though the vehicle sits 30 mm lower and has 105 mm longer wheelbase, the vehicle has more dynamic and standard proportions. Further, the larger body incorporates a larger cabin, the rear knee room increase by 58 mm, rear headroom increases by 11 mm and the boot space increased by 68 litres. However, it is lighter by 23 kg due to high strength steel.
Moving on to the powertrain, the vehicle is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder DIG-T turbocharged petrol engine mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic with steering paddle shifters producing 117 PS of power. Different driving modes include Eco, Standard, and Sport mode. The option of diesel variant is not provided by the automaker, but a higher-powered 1.5L petrol and a Nismo version can be expected.
Stated as the most associated Nissan model, the vehicle incorporates the ProPILOT tech for the first time, which makes the driving easier in the conditions of heavy traffic and long journeys. In terms of safety, the all-new Juke includes intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist recognition, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, intelligent lane intervention, and blind-spot intervention.
The infotainment bits cover Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and an eight-inch touchscreen, TomTom Maps & Live Traffic. Google Assistant compatibility gives control over several functioning by talking to the device, which includes central locking, vehicle lights and sending destinations to the car’s navigation system. Different color combinations for the body, roof, and cabin are provided by the automaker. The first deliveries are expected to be seen by the end of November this year.
