KUALA LUMPUR: Maserati has unveiled the digital renderings of its upcoming track-only version of the MC20 sportscar, codenamed as the Project24. The model will comply with all FIA-specified race regulations and will have a limited production of 62 units. Let’s dive deeper to know what makes it different from the road version -

The Maserati Project24 sports car will be powered by a modified version of the Nettuno twin-turbo V6 engine kicking out a maximum power output of 740 hp.The Maserati Project24 will be powered by a modified version of the Nettuno twin-turbo V6 engine kicking out a maximum power output of 740 hp. Compared to the road-going model, it is up by 119 hp thanks to the engine’s revised twin-turbochargers. The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox paired with a limited-slip, self-locking mechanical differential, instead of the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which you can find on the MC20.
Adding to the chassis upgrades are
- A track-specific double-wishbone with a semi-virtual steering axis, adjustable dampers, and anti-roll bars
- Brembo carbon ceramic ventilated brakes with racing callipers, and a unique cooling system
- Adjustable racing ABS and traction control
When it comes to the weight, the two-seater homologated car tips the scales at just 1250 kg courtesy of the all-carbon-fibre bodywork. This results in a power-to-weight ratio of 1.69 kilograms per horsepower. The key exterior design changes include -

- A massive rear wing connected with a central fin

Maserati confirms that the upcoming sports car meets all FIA safety standards with a roll cage and a multi-functional carbon-fibre steering wheel with integrated displays, an adjustable pedal box, and steering columns. The car will also have racing seats with six-point harnesses. Also part of the kit is a rear-view camera for the passenger seat, an in-car camera, telemetry recording, and a tyre pressure monitoring.
