Say hello to the Aston Martin DBX Bowmore Edition
KUALA LUMPUR: The British carmaker Aston Martin caused a sensation in the uber-luxury SUV segment when it introduced the DBX last year. And now it came up with its all-new Bowmore Edition created in partnership with Bowmore Distillery, a well-known Scotch whisky distiller. Designed by the brand's Q division, the DBX Bowmore Edition is a perfect combination of modern luxury and old-school craftsmanship to be available only in 18 units.
The new edition is outfitted in striking paint color, called Bowmore Blue, which has been brought back by the bespoke division for this car. Although customers can also choose an alternative exterior paint color that is Xenon Grey. The team also used copper strips from the original whisky stills for the side strakes of the SUV. Black brake calipers and black wheels come as standard, and Q by Aston Martin badges round out the exterior visual tweaks.
For interior trimming, the automaker gives two choices to buyers - Obsidian Monotone or Copper Tan Metallic/Obsidian Duotone. Both choices are accented throughout by flares of Bowmore Tweed, reflecting the brand’s Islay ancestry. The subtle and sophisticated design incorporates copper and blue accents as well as copper foil detailing on the gloss-black center stack. More original Bowmore copper is also used for the polished cup holders and sill plaques.
The special Q accessories available with the special edition includes a Bowmore tweed picnic blanket and leather holdall bag.
In terms of mechanical setup, the DBX Bowmore Edition is identical to the standard DBX, which means it gets power from the Mercedes-AMG sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V-8 engine generating 542 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission spins all the four wheels of the SUV, taking 4.2 seconds to hit 100 kmph.
While the company has already started taking the orders, the deliveries will take place in the fourth quarter of 2021 with a unique, three-day experience in Scotland.
To take home their DBX Bowmore, customers will first travel to Edinburgh, where they will receive their SUVs to be a part of a 170-mile road trip through the spectacular Scottish countryside and will then board a ferry for Islay for a three-night stay. During this, the owners will enjoy fine-dining and will get the chance to hand-fill their bottle of a 39-year-old whisky straight from the cask. They will also be treated with a private tour of the Bowmore Distillery.
