KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo is committed to becoming a fully electric car brand by the end of 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2040. Aligning with the company's global mission, Volvo Cars Malaysia is set to introduce two new EVs - EX30 and EX90 by the end of this year. While the launch date for the seven-seater EX90 has not yet been announced, the five-seater EX30 is set to hit the local roads on September 25, 2024.

Yes, the Volvo EX30 will be assembled locally in Shah Alam.Globally introduced in June last year, the Volvo EX30 is the brand’s smallest SUV equipped with the brand’s renowned safety features and a range of smart technologies. It measures 4,233 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,549 mm in height and spans a 2,650-mm long wheelbase.
In other ASEAN markets, the EV comes in single and dual-motor setups. The former churns out a maximum power of 272 PS and a peak torque of 343 Nm while the latter is good for making 428 PS and 543 Nm. The different battery pack options include a 51 kWh lithium-ion phosphate and a 69 kWh nickel manganese cobalt, offering a range between 344 km and 480 km.
The Volvo EX30 boasts a modern design with the brand’s signature ‘Thor’s hammer’ daytime running lights and LED headlights. On the rear lies vertical tail lights along with a separate tail light bar featuring a clamp-like design.
The cabin features a minimalist layout with high-quality, eco-friendly materials, creating a refined and modern ambiance. It comes with four expressive interiors inspired by Scandinavian nature viz. Indigo, Breeze, Pine, and Mist.
Built with a focus on sustainability, the EV features renewable and recycled materials in multiple areas. About 25% of all aluminium and 17% of all steel and plastics in the EV are recycled and approx 30% of the decor parts are made from recycled plastic.
The featured kit includes a 12.3-inch central screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a panoramic roof, powered front seats, a Harman Kardon audio system, ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, front cross-traffic alert, lane change alert, driver alert system, pilot assist, and park pilot assist.
