It now has a completely different stance with its sleeker and more aerodynamic robes. Earlier, the legs and feet of the Spirit’s were together, but now one leg is bent at the knee, in front of the body.
With the body tucked low and eyes focused eagerly ahead, she is a true goddess of speed, braced for the wind, says Rolls Royce.
The automaker claims that the new ornament provides both practical and stylistic benefits to the upcoming battery-powered electric coupe as it remarkably contributes to the aerodynamic properties.
The earliest prototypes of the EV have a drag coefficient of just 0.26, which makes it the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever produced. This number is expected to improve during the exhaustive testing protocols of the car to be undertaken this year.
“The Spirit of Ecstasy is the most famous and desirable automotive mascot in the world. More than just a symbol, she is the embodiment of our brand and a constant source of inspiration and pride for the marque and its clients. Like our brand, she has always moved with the times while staying true to her nature and character. In her new form, she is more streamlined and graceful than ever before – the perfect emblem for the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever created, and for gracing the prow of our bold electric future.” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
The Rolls Royce Spectre underpins the Architecture of Luxury platform, on which the new Ghost and Phantom are also based. It is expected to borrow the drivetrain from the BMW iX M60 that features two electric motors delivering a combined output of 610 hp and 1,100 Nm.
Well, whatever drivetrain it will get, one thing is sure the upcoming Rolls Royce Spectre will be one of the most expensive EVs on sale.
