Rolls-Royce Spectre orders won’t be fulfilled until 2025

KUALA LUMPUR: It might sound astounding to some but what’s true is true, the Rolls-Royce Spectre has a waiting period of two years. So, a future owner of the luxury car will get his/her hand on the brand’s first EV in 2025.

Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös revealed on the website to the prospective owners, “If you order today, you probably will take delivery in 2025. Our intention [is 15 months>; mid- to long-term we might see spikes, but my intention is not that our clients need to wait many years until they take delivery of one of our products.”

Obviously, customers in the luxury segment would not appreciate such a high waiting period. As per the CEO by all means it is bad production planning on the part of the automaker, nothing else.

Rolls-Royce developed the Spectre via the lessons it learned from its past electric concepts like the 102EX and 103EX, the latter leading to the EVs production version.

About the EV Müller-Ötvös said, “We learned a lot about range [and> about charging times [with the concepts>, and it was clear that we don’t need to be number one with outrageous range or whatever, but a range of 500 km is totally sufficient for our clients.”

The model’s development gave the correct logic behind the battery size, body shape, and EVs overall look. The CEO also said, “It’s a very fine balance between range, battery size, and subsequently the compromises you suddenly get with the entire design of the car.”

Powering the Spectre is a pair of electric motors offering a combined output of 585 PS and 900 Nm of torque along with an all-wheel drivetrain. This 2,975 kg EV propels from 0 to 100 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
