Rolls-Royce reveals Dawn Silver Bullet
KUALA LUMPUR: British luxury automobile manufacturer Rolls-Royce has revealed sketches of a special edition two-seat roadster version of the Dawn convertible. Production of the car will be limited to just 50 units. The Rolls-Royce Dawn debuted at the International Motor Show Germany (2015) in Frankfurt.
The new car will be called the Dawn Silver Bullet Collection, and will be inspired by the roadster models of the 1920s, said the Goodwood-headquartered company in a statement. The Silver Bullet will replace the standard Dawn’s back seats with metallic silver, titanium buttress. The silver colour in the Bullet Collection will extend to the rest of the vehicle’s body as a throwback to previous special edition Rolls-Royce cars like the Silver Spectre Silver King, Silver Dawn, and Silver Silence, with the headlamps and bumper sporting dark details. The Dawn Silver Bullet’s cabin will have a carbon fibre dashboard. A central console will adorn quilted leather surrounding, which Rolls-Royce claims, is inspired by leather jackets as a ‘quintessentially rebellious fashion accessory’.
The Dawn Silver Bullet will remain a drophead coupe-like its standard version. The car's back seat may be covered by aerodynamic cowling to forge a speedster look while accenting the high shoulders. Whether the cowling will be leather-crafted, like in the photos, is still unclear. Rolls-Royce has also not clarified whether the Silver Bullet will get a teakwood-like treatment like previous special edition cars. The wheels will get special black accents.
The Dawn Silver Bullet will be hauled by a turbocharged, 6.6-litre V12 engine which produces around 564PS maximum power. It’s the same motor which powers the standard Dawn. The Silver Bullet, according to the company, can reach 0-62mph in five seconds. The car can attain a maximum speed of 155mph.
Rolls-Royce currently sells four car models in the Malaysian market. The Cullinan, priced at RM 1.8 million, is the cheapest Rolls-Royce, while the RM 6.03 million Phantom is the most expensive vehicle.
Delivery of the Rolls-Royce Dawn Silver Bullet is expected to commence in summer. Being a limited edition exclusive model, the car is likely to be priced higher than the £275,295 standard Dawn.
