Rolls-Royce Cullinan launched in Malaysia, priced at 1.8 RM million
KUALA LUMPUR: Can you name the world’s largest rough diamond? What about the first off-road capable SUV by Rolls-Royce? Well, both of them are called “Cullinan”. Staying true to the inspiration of its name, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is the first of its kind and probably the best as well. Offering both luxury and adventure at the same time, the Cullinan can be had in both four- and five-seater options. With so many customisations available, the price of the car you take home depends on the kind of equipment, materials, and finish you choose.
If we talk about the model displayed at the launch, with all the extras it had, the price tag was RM 1.8 million. While the entry-level variant of the Cullinan can be had for RM 1.5 million only, it basically gets no extras at all and you won’t be taking those bare bones with you either. It is to be noted that both the prices of RM 1.5 and RM 1.8 million do not include any kind of taxes.
Standing at 5,341 mm long, 2,165 mm wide, and 1,835 mm tall the Cullinan has got a wheelbase of 3,295 mm. Just like the Rolls-Royce Phantom, the Cullinan is also powered by a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 petrol-fed motor. This engine is capable of producing 571 PS of maximum power at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 850 Nm at 1,600 rpm. An eight-speed auto transmission takes care of the power delivery to the wheels. The luxurious off-roader can do a 0-100 kmph run in 5.1 seconds and the top speed has been electronically limited to 250 kmph. The car also gets an all-wheel-drive and an electronically-controlled air suspension system along with four different driving modes. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan rides on 22-inch 7-spoke alloys.
On the inside, the Cullinan is full of tech aimed at convenience. To make the entry easy, the car drops its suspension down by 40 mm and the doors can be opened and closed via a sensor or button. While the car on display had Scivaro Grey, Mandarin, and Slate contrast trim along with elements made up of open-pore blackwood and chevron wood, you have got a wide array of options to make your choice. At the back, you can choose either an ‘Individual Seat’ or a ‘Lounge Seat’ setup. While the ‘Individual Seat’ brings along two separate seats making the car a four-seater SUV, the ‘Lounge Seat’ provides with a three-seater option at the back.
For storage, you have got a 560-litre of cargo which can be further beefed up to 600-litre by removing the parcel shelf. A button provided on the key fob opens the tailgate that has been dubbed as “The Clasp”. Stuff like an 18-speaker Bespoke audio setup, a Rear Theatre which includes two separate screens, WiFi Hotspot, five USB ports, and wireless mobile charging also make their its to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. A four camera setup aids the driver with an all-round and a helicopter view. Other safety features on the SUV include active cruise control, collision warning, head-up display, cross-traffic alert, Night Vision & Vision Assist, lane departure, and lane change warning.
