Rockstar Performance Garage Kona Ultimate Concept to debut soon

KUALA LUMPUR: The South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer, Hyundai has announced it will arrive at the upcoming SEMA Show with an off-road Kona concept car. The brand has joined with Rockstar Performance Garage to make the Ultimate Kona Concept. It will be showcased alongside Bisimoto VelosterRaptor at the 2019 SEMA show, scheduled for November 5th to 8th in Las Vegas.

Hyundai has taken a black Kona Ultimate Turbo AWD as the base model for the off-road Kona concept. It is customized with King suspension units. The car rides on 16-inch Motegi rally wheels having Mickey Thompson race-grooved tyres of 30-inch. Furthermore, there are pads and performance motors.

At the front, the radiator grille on Rockstar Performance Garage Kona Ultimate Concept gets Baja Design LED lighting. There are Kicker audio system, Scosche’s additional smartphone mounts, alligator-skinned seats, etc.. There is Bulletliner exterior coating to maximize the protection while using it for the off-road.

Rockstar Performance Garage Kona Ultimate Concept is equipped with a 1.6-litre turbocharged Gamma engine. Now, the Magnaflow exhaust and K&N filters billet intake provide better power output than before. Also, the Race Chip performance tuning helps to do the same. However, the carmaker has not revealed the output figures yet.

The existing Hyundai Kona’s 1.6-litre turbocharged Gamma engine is capable of churning out a maximum power of 175 hp, while the peak torque is at 264 Nm. The maximum power comes at a rev range of 5,500 rpm while the peak torque comes between 1,500 and 4,500 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a seven-speed EcoShift DCT (dual-clutch transmission).

Coming to the measurement, the Kona has a length of 1,800 mm, and the width is 1,800 mm and the wheelbase reads 2,800 mm.
