What's new with the 9th iteration of the Renault logo?
With its new logo, Renault is signaling a major electrification push. Further, the design team has opted for a two-dimensional pattern as they look far better than 3D designs in digital format.
The Renault 5 concept car that was displayed in January 2021 at the brand's Revolution event, was the first to wear the retro-inspired logo.
Renault's design director, Gilles Vidal said the response they received on the 5 concept car logo influenced the automaker to adopt it more widely in the company's lineup. His exact words were “The Renault 5 was for us a formidable testing ground. In view of the enthusiasm and the very positive feedback we received about the logo, we decided to launch it. The logo will be gradually introduced across the range as models are refreshed or replaced. It will be featured on every Renault model by 2024.”
Renault logo roundup
The latest Renault logo is the ninth one to make use of the diamond shape. The first time such a design was used was in 1925, it featured a diamond filled with horizontal stripes, but this pattern phased out in 1972. The current version of the Renault logo came to life in 1992 and since then it has been revised four-time, the latest one done in 2015.
As for the latest interaction of the Renault, the logo comprises intertwined black lines, like the ones seen in the 1972 design.
