Renault Talisman facelift looks refreshingly redesigned
KUALA LUMPUR: First introduced in 2015, the Renault Talisman has now been given a facelift. In an effort to revamp the shrinking D-segment in Europe, Renault reaffirmed its commitment to excite us about the newness it seeks to bring. It is exciting to see the facelifted Talisman being tested in camouflaged prototypes on public roads in Europe. The news is sure to break covers, with just a month left for Geneva Motor Show, where the model is going to be unveiled.
On the upfront, you see only minor visual revisions but there are substantial improvements on the tech side.
The facelift can be clearly recognized by the redesigned front cover and the continuous chrome strip running above the radiator grille. The light signature on the LED rear lights has been revised so that it is easily recognizable and the turn signals now also have LED technology and even quiver dynamically. The entire Talisman range comes with full-LED headlamps and the company’s signature C-shaped LED DRLs, with the option of adaptive matrix LED technology and dynamic indicators. Renault says the new tech improves the visibility range of 220 m from 175 m previously.
Complete overhauling of the bumper is also seen clearly, this being joined by a new grille with transverse chrome slats.
New color options have also been added, including Baltic Grey, Vintage Red, and Highland Grey, while customers also get to choose from a range of alloy wheels among Pierre (17-inch), Stellar (18-inch), and Sato (19-inch).
Rear fancy indicators as well as chrome fittings also explicitly underline their new design. Renault also added a shark fin antenna to the roof, perhaps, to improve the quality of the multimedia system inside.
Various notable innovations on the tech side ensure more safety and comfort. A new driver assistance system completely takes over the vehicle on roads and can automatically accelerate, brake and steer independently. This is an important milestone on the way to autonomous driving. The cross-traffic warning system for reverse parking is also celebrating its debut in the Renault Talisman facelift.
An extended emergency brake assistant with pedestrian detection and the lane departure warning system including lane departure warning belong to the options on the equipment list. The blind spot assistant now works with a radar sensor and fatigue detection monitors whether the driver is still paying sufficient attention.
Reaching to the inside of the cabin, you see a new fully-digital configurable instrument cluster with a 10.2-inch screen. Available with the Intense package, it replaces the previous semi-digital panel and offers full customization with GPS navigation display for a unique driving experience.
This modernized piece from Renault will be available from the dealer, this June. We still await any official word on the Malaysian launch.
