Renault Arkana E-Tech Hybrid revealed, full details out
KUALA LUMPUR: The Renault Arkana is a coupe-SUV that was first introduced in 2019 and now we hear that the automaker has introduced a hybrid powertrain in its lineup. So, for the model year 2021, Renault offers an E-Tech full-hybrid Arkana with a 1.2 kWh 230V battery.
The new Renault Arkana is available in three trim levels (Iconic, S Edition, and R.S. Line) and two petrol engines, both tuned with hybrid technology.
The line-up kicks with the Iconic model that comes fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, and full-LED headlights. The interior, on the other hand, benefits from a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and a rear-view camera. The Arkana E-Tech Hybrid standard feature kit includes automatic air conditioning, front & rear parking sensors, automatic lights, and automatic wipers. The safety kit is loaded with an emergency braking system, lane departure warning, and cruise control.
Next in line after the Arkana Iconic model is the S Edition which gets larger 18-inch alloy wheels, a 9.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 7-inch digital instrument panel. Also part of the kit is some part-leather upholstery and exterior chrome trim. On the safety front, this mid-spec model gets a few extras over and above the Iconic model like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
The range-topping R.S. Line model comes with aggressive styling including an F-1 inspired front bumper, gloss black door mirrors, and chrome tailpipes. Not to forget the gunmetal trim on front and rear skid plates and gunmetal inserts on the lower part of the doors. The cabin gets seats wrapped in leather and suede-effect fabric with red contrasting stitching, carbon-effect decorative dashboard fittings, boot with black roof lining. Also part of the kit is electrically adjustable seats, heated steering wheel, and hands-free parking system.
New Renault Arkana engine configuration -
The SUV sources its power from a 1.3-litre TCe 140 mill with 'micro hybrid' tech - a clever stop-start system that uses a 12V starter generator. The unit pumps out a maximum power of 138 bhp which is sent to the wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
However, by paying a bit extra customers can opt for the E-Tech hybrid unit. The 1.6-litre petrol engine is paired with two electric motors. The automaker claims that the car can make
80 percent of urban journeys solely with electric power.
