Record-breaking sales for Mitsubishi Malaysia this Sep 2021
KUALA LUMPUR: Sales figures for the month of September 2021 are out and out of all Mitsubishi Malaysia has all reasons to celebrate. The company delivered 6,907 units last month and it's one of its highest scores.
MMM Chief Executive Officer, Tomoyuki Shinnishi said, “After a few months of challenging market situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, the team at Mitsubishi Motors is working with our best efforts to improve production, delivery timing, and to recover from backlog orders fulfilment for the Xpander and Triton.”
He added, “We would like to thank our customers who have shown us support and have been patient with us. As the nation moves towards the endemic era and with the resumption of the automotive supply chain and showrooms opening, we are confident for optimistic sales numbers over the second half of our Financial Year.”
Which model contributed the most to this sales figure?
Well, out of the four models that Mitsubishi offers in Malaysia, the Triton pick-up came out to be the biggest contributor with 1,521 units - it is the farthest Mitsubishi Malaysia has ever gone in a single month with the pickup truck.
As for the overall market share in the segment, Triton's market share has gone up by 34 percent, the highest it has enjoyed so far.

Next up is the Xpander SUV, Mitsubishi Malaysia delivered 5,756 units in September. Furthermore with close to 13,000 bookings since its launch, it is now Malaysia's best-selling non-national MPV.
Furthermore, Mitsubishi Triton has recorded a 5.1% hike in sales in the first half of FY2021, compared to the same period last year.
Not to forget, Mitsubishi's overall market share also increased to 3.9 percent from 1.7 percent last year.
Any specific reason for such a hike in sales figures?
Well, the recent jump in sales is attributed to the recent reopening of the automotive industry post the government imposed COVID-related MCO. The high number of deliveries is part of the company's efforts to fulfil the backlog orders that accumulated during the lockdown.
In addition, Mitsubishi Malaysia has resumed showroom operation and introduced a new digital service including an online shopping platform. A new Home Delivery Service will be introduced soon making the whole delivery process super smooth for customers.
