Proton S70 passes the ASEAN NCAP crash tests with flying colours
KUALA LUMPUR: Just after the launch of the all-new Proton S70, ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries) released the sedan’s safety rating. The car was assessed under the 2021-25 protocol and passed the tests with flying colours.

The new Proton sedan comes packed with a bag full of standard safety features, including six airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, a seatbelt reminder (front and rear), blind spot detection (on both sides), child presence detection, pedestrian protection technology and rear collision warning.
In addition, the higher trims also get advanced safety assist technologies such as autonomous emergency braking (city, inter-urban, and pedestrian), auto high beam, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and fatigue driving reminder system.
As per the report, ASEAN NCAP assessed the functionalities of the AEB and BSD technologies fitted inside the sedan. It also physically assessed the AHB’s functionality.

The earlier X-series under the SUV segment have achieved remarkable successes, all receiving 5-star ASEAN NCAP ratings, which reflects the brand’s unwavering dedication to vehicle safety. The new S70 sedan is a testament to this commitment,” the company said in the official press releases.
As a quick recap, the Proton S70 is offered in four variants - Executive, Premium, Flagship, and Flagship X. The price begins at RM 73,800 and goes all the way up to RM 94,800. All the variants are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder MPI engine tuned to deliver 150 PS and a peak torque of 226 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
