PROTON DX: Pioneering STEM education and Innovation in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: In a significant move to enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education in Malaysia, PROTON DX, a joint venture between ACO Tech, PROTON, and the China Construction Bank (CCB), has pledged to inspire 200 young minds by 2024. This initiative aligns with the government's commitment, as demonstrated by the RM100 million allocation in the 2024 Budget for STEM education, emphasizing the upgrade of existing facilities and procurement of new equipment.

Located in Kuala Lumpur, PROTON DX celebrated its first year as Malaysia's premier automotive digital center. This innovative space merges technology with leisure and lifestyle, creating a unique environment for automotive and technological education aimed at all age groups. Since its inception in June 2023, PROTON DX has launched numerous programs to kindle interest in STEM subjects among the youth.

One of its flagship events, the monthly Student Robotic Car Workshop, has already seen participation from over 50 students across the Klang Valley, including 20 from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Tun Dr. Ismail. These workshops provide students with hands-on experience in building and programming autonomous vehicles using Arduino platforms, with each participant receiving a certificate and goodie bag upon completion.

Mr. Li Pu, CEO of ACO Tech, emphasized the critical role of STEM in national development and the importance of equipping the future workforce with necessary skills and technological literacy. "PROTON DX is not just an experience centre but a beacon for STEM education and technological innovation," he stated, highlighting the centre's success in hosting and facilitating STEM-related activities.

PROTON DX is actively seeking partnerships with local entities to host events and workshops that promote STEM awareness and education. The centre, which features a variety of interactive exhibits like the Virtual Cockpit and a space for community engagements, invites visitors of all ages to explore the potential of smart mobility and other technological advancements.
