Production dates of Kona N and Genesis GV70 leaked
KUALA LUMPUR: Autospy, a South Korean forum, has a rather interesting image of what appears to a timetable of Hyundai’s Ulsan plant. It is the world’s largest auto plant with five independent factories that manufacture nearly 6,000 car a day and makes a multitude of models. And it appears that more models are on the way if the leaked image is correct.
Reports at The Korean Car Blog discovered the poster, the timetable is in the Korean language, and the cars are listed by codenames. We can see the Korean N due to hit the assembly line for July this year. Besides, the next-gen Tucson and the Genesis GV70 appear to be not far behind. On closer inspection, we also see a bunch of other models, like the Elantra (CN7) and the facelifted Santa Fe (TM), with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
It is not known if the plant’s plan will be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as there’s a chance that some models could get delayed. The reveal of the Genesis G80 could be a sign that Hyundai’s luxury hand is trying to stay on release schedule even during these unfortunate times. However, the production dates could still be impacted by how the crisis created by the pandemic takes its toll on the South Korean automotive industry.
The leaked timetable is an excellent example of how well the Hyundai’s lineup has flourished, even if we are only taking into consideration the models manufactured in Ulsan. Also, new models are en route as the Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup is soon coming along with the 45 Concept production version, and a mid-engined sports car. Also, in work are new powertrains, including i20N, Sonata N Line, and next-gen Tucson full-fat N version. As per a recent teaser image, Genesis is working on a broader lineup beyond the GV70 and G70 facelift.
