KUALA LUMPUR: BYD Malaysia has dropped yet another teaser of its upcoming electric car, the Seal. The latest teaser reveals the pre-booking opening date for the EV, which is January 19, 2024. The automaker will be accepting the pre-bookings on its redesigned website which will be revealed on the same day.

In the neighbouring markets, the BYD Seal comes in two battery options - 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh, offering a range between 460 km and 570 km.The BYD Seal is a four-door coupe-styled electric sedan that will lock horns with the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4 in the local market. It was previewed last month during the brand’s first-anniversary celebration in Malaysia.
Based on the automaker’s e-platform 3.0, the EV measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, and 1,460 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. It has a boot storage capacity of 400 litres along with a front storage compartment of 53 litres.
In neighbouring markets like Singapore and Thailand, the EV is offered in three variants - Dynamic RWD, Premium RWD, and AWD Performance. The specifications are as follows -

The BYD Seal features an ocean-inspired award-winning design with an X-shaped sporty and stylish front fascia, a coupe-like silhouette with distinctive elements like double waistlines, a low-slung front hood, and an upturned ducktail. The interior also incorporates the Ocean Aesthetics design philosophy with a signature “Surging Wave” style dashboard, water drop-shaped inner buckles and a crystal gear shift lever.
In terms of equipment, the Malaysia-spec EV is likely to come with LED headlights, 18-or 19-inch wheels, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a head-up display, 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats, heated steering wheel, and a full suite of advanced safety technology.
The BYD Seal launch in Malaysia is expected in the first quarter of 2024.
