Pre-booking of new Forester to start from May end

KUALA LUMPUR: TC Subaru will start taking orders for the latest iteration of Forester from the end of May. The carmaker has confirmed the information at the launch event of Subaru XV GT Edition. The 2019 Forester will arrive in the Malaysian market in July 2019.

Earlier on, we have got to know that the all-new Forester is being assembled at the TCSAT (Tan Chong Subaru Automotive Thailand) Limited plant. So, instead of being a locally assembled (CKD) model, the latest iteration of SUV will be a fully-imported (CBU) model. Although the price tag of the car has not revealed yet, TC Subaru will start taking pre-bookings ahead of its launch.

Moreover, the manufacturer will give some benefits to the customers who will book the cars early. It will provide an all-expense paid trip to Bangkok this December to the first 50 customers, who will place a booking in Malaysia. Furthermore, in this trip, the customer will be taken to visit the TCSAT plant so that they can witness how the assembling process of a car.

The fifth generation Subaru Forester sits on the SGP (Subaru Global Platform). Two of Subaru's popular models XV and Impreza are also based on this same platform. The Taiwan-spec Subaru Forester is equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder FB20 direct-injected boxer mill, which can produce a maximum power of 156 PS along with a peak torque of 196 Nm. It is the Lineartronic CVT, which takes care of the transmission duties. Furthermore, the powertrain supports the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

The car has a considerable set of equipment list including 17 or 18-inch wheels, LED headlamps, powered tailgate, an eight-inch touchscreen, and dual-zone climate control. Speaking of the safety features the car is loaded with Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), Isofix child seat anchors, Brake Assist, ABS with EBD, seven airbags, Active Torque Vectoring, etc.
