Pre-booking for BMW iX2 xDrive30 in Malaysia now open - from RM283k, 313 PS, 449km range, AWD

KUALA LUMPUR:  BMW Malaysia has announced that they will be adding the BMW iX2 xDrive30 to its electric vehicle (EV) lineup and is now available for pre-booking.

The BMW iX2 xDrive30 is priced at RM 282,800.00 on the road, excluding insurance. This excludes the optional RM14.2k BMW Service & Repair Inclusive package, featuring a 5-Year Extended Warranty and Service Package.

This new model introduces a fresh approach within the Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) segment(BMW talk for SUV), boasting a design that merges sportiness with modernity and superior driving performance.

The introduction of the iX2 xDrive30 in Malaysia, under BMW's stewardship, is a clear move to expand its electric offerings, with this model serving as the first all-electric BMW X2 series.

Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director at BMW Group Malaysia, highlighted the BMW iX2 xDrive30's role in BMW's commitment to electric mobility. The vehicle's launch not only strengthens BMW's portfolio but also positions the brand as a leading premium EV provider in Malaysia, following the success of delivering thousands of electrified vehicles across the BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad brands in 2023.

The BMW iX2 xDrive30 showcases several design and technological advancements. Externally, it features a redesigned BMW kidney grille and adaptive LED headlights that enhance its visibility and aesthetic appeal. Its side profile presents a dynamic silhouette offering a muscular look characterised by a gently sloping roofline, backwards-tapered windows, M high-gloss Shadow line, and long wheelbase.

The special V-spoke style 873 Bicolour 20-inch M light alloy wheels and flush door handles, also helps to emphasize its sporty character. 

The interior of the BMW iX2 xDrive30 is designed with an emphasis on digital features and comfort. It is equipped with the BMW Curved Display, which combines a 10.25-inch instrument display and a 10.7-inch control display, aiming to provide a driver-focused interface. The vehicle also features a full-color BMW Head-Up Display that projects driving-related information directly into the driver's field of view.

Additional features include a wireless charging tray with a cooling system, an integrated control panel within the front armrest, automatic tailgate operation, and a Harman Kardon Hi-Fi speaker system. These components are integrated to enhance the vehicle’s digital and user experience.

The interior of the BMW iX2 xDrive30 also includes an M multifunction leather steering wheel, Aluminum Hexacube Pale M interior trim, a luxury instrument panel with improved texture, and “Veganza” leather-alternative upholstery with contrast stitching. It features sport seats in the front for enhanced support and comfort, and the rear seats can be folded in a 40:20:40 split for flexible cargo space.

From a performance standpoint, the iX2 xDrive30 is powered by dual electric motors, one per axle, delivering a total power of 313 hp including a 7 hp boost. It is powered by a 66.5 kWh high-voltage battery located in the floor, offering a WLTP-certified range of up to 449 kilometers.

This setup enables the vehicle to operate without local emissions and with high efficiency. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 180 km/h.

As for charging the EV, the BMW iX2 xDrive30 features AC and DC charging capabilities. Using a High-Power Charging station, its 66.5 kWh battery charges from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes at a maximum of 130 kW. Home charging through a Wallbox reaches a full charge in 6 hours and 30 minutes with an 11 kW supply. The process is managed via the My BMW App.

The BMW iX2 xDrive30 enhances its sporting capabilities with several key features. Upgraded stabilizer bearings on the front spring-strut axle and the multi-link rear axle enhance steering precision and stability. Standard actuator-like anti-roll bars boost traction and driving stability.

The vehicle also incorporates Adaptive M Suspension and M Sport Steering for improved driving dynamics and roadholding, alongside a more direct steering feel. M Sports Brakes are included for superior braking performance. The SPORT My Mode feature allows for more responsive and dynamic driving.

The BMW iX2 xDrive30 includes standard safety and driver assistance features such as Active Guard Basis, Driving Assistant Plus, and Parking Assistant Plus. Active Guard Basis provides lane departure, front collision, and left turn warnings, speed limit information, and an evasion aid, all with active interventions.

Driving Assistant Plus offers enhanced camera and radar-based support including active cruise control and lane control assistance. Parking Assistant Plus uses camera and ultrasound for parking support, featuring a remote 3D view and a drive and anti-theft recorder. An Attentiveness Assistant is also standard, monitoring driver behavior for signs of fatigue.
