Polestar’s first SUV makes global debut, the Polestar 3
KUALA LUMPUR: Polestar takes a big leap in its car manufacturing journey with the debut of its very-first SUV, the Polestar 3.

Engine
Polestar’s new SUV is powered by a dual motor all-wheel drive system generating a maximum power output of 489 hp along with a peak torque of 840 Nm. While these figures are limited to the standard Polestar 3 version, with ‘Performance Pack’ the numbers bump up to 517 hp and 910 Nm.
The SUVs AWD system is biased towards rear wheels, however, it can be detached from the rear axle and only use the front axle to save energy.

Battery pack & Charging
The dual motor system is powered by a 111 kWh battery which in the standard version offers a range of 610 km.
As for charging, the automaker is yet to reveal the time details, however, the SUV is known to handle 11 kW AC and 250 kW DC fast charging. Also, vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-grid connectivity are possible here.
Braking & Handling
The Polestar 3 will offer a smooth drive thanks to its very capable handling setup which includes - electric torque vectoring, a dual-clutch function (on the rear axle), a dual-chamber air suspension system (adjustment for comfort & dynamic driving)
Exterior
As can be seen in the images above, the Polestar 3 SUV is a stylish-looking car with futuristic features. Part of the car’s standard exterior feature list is - LED lights, 21-inch alloy wheels, and retractable door handles.
Interior
The Polestar 3 is a stylish and comfortable car with its equipment list including a 14.5-inch touchscreen display with Android Automotive which is co-developed with Google. The SUV also supports Over The Air updates which will come in super handy as customers won’t need to worry about visiting a dealership every time an update is announced.
Apart from being highly technologically advanced, the Polestar 3 is a sustainable car. It uses welfare-certified leather with fully traceable wool upholstery.
Safety
As expected, the Polestar 3 is pretty capable on the safety front with inclusions like - an interior radar sensor system, the latest Advanced Driver Assistance System (developed in collaboration with Zenseact, SmartEye, and Luminar), five radar modules, 12 external ultrasonic sensors, and five external cameras. The front fascia gets what’s called a ‘Smart Zone’ that houses several sensors, a camera, and a heated radar module.
Other inclusions
For its first model year, Polestar has equipped its first SUV with Plus Pack and Pilot Pack as standard. The former includes - a Bowers & Wilkins’ 25-speaker audio system with 3D surround sound, Head-up Display, Dolby Atmos capability, pilot assist, and soft closing doors. As for the latter Pilot Pack, it benefits from LiDAR from Luminar that includes - an additional control unit from NVIDIA, four ultrasonic sensors, three cameras, and front- and rear-view camera cleaning.
