Polestar Precept concept displays the stunning design language
KUALA LUMPUR: Polestar, the all-electric performance brand jointly owned by Volvo and Geely, is known for producing stellar designs since its inception. The brand has taken Volvo’s current design language along with aggressive and sleek aesthetic features that focus on electric performance. However, it is not enough to borrow fine designs from family brands and Polestar knows it well. To mark a new era of designing, the company come up with the “Precept concept” a few days back and now some new images explaining the style and technology are surfaced publicly.
The concept looks stunning and rather features interesting aspects. The automaker intends to blend the design and technology in a way that does not conceal it from the world. Though the particular design is not slated for production, instead it just previews the brand’s voyage on which it is heading up with the upcoming models such as Polestar 3 SUV. Thus, the design changes are more significant than the overall car.
At the front, the car gets a “smart zone” which accommodate the camera and radar sensors with the text signifying their work. The zone contributes to the Precept's safety credentials.
To enhance the capabilities of the camera and radar, a lidar pod is mounted on the glass roof. It signifies the possibilities that Precept may possess a partial or fully autonomous driving capability.
The four-door electric sedan sits on 22-inch wheels with a 122.4-inch wheelbase. The front and rear signature lights are inspired by the astronomical events, while the C-pillars carry LED charging indicators. The rear window is replaced with a rear camera which implies that the rear roof beam could allow more headroom. The front wing, the air vents behind the wheel and the flush door handle help to increase the vehicle’s range.
Inside the cabin, the Precept houses the new Google Android-based infotainment system. It powers a 15-inch centre screen and also a 12.5-inch driver display, which is virtually linked with an illuminated blade wrapping the interior. The smart sensors of the cabin track the driver’s attention and adjust the content of the screens accordingly. Polestar used recycled PET bottles for the 3D-knitted seat fabrics, recycled cork vinyl for bolsters and headrests and reclaimed fishing nets for carpets.
Let’s see when the firm moves ahead to develop the concept.
