‘Pickup Truck of the Year’ in Malaysia goes to Ford Ranger 2.2L Wildtrak

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ford Ranger 2.2L Wildtrak has been awarded the ‘Pickup Truck of the Year (Twin Cab)’ at the 2018 Malaysia COTY (Car of the Year) event. This means another feather is added to the smart, tough and efficient pickup’s crown.

The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute which was formerly known as Malaysia Automotive Institute had arranged the event. Generally, the vehicles are awarded based on five aspects which include technical specifications and engineering innovations, energy efficiency, safety features, environmental friendliness and best car for overall value for money along with exterior and interior design.

The Managing Director of Sime Darby Auto Connexion mentioned that the company feel proud that the Ranger has been awarded yet again. The pickup is the toughest and smartest truck in the segment as it comes with advanced technology and a host of convenience features. The customers can use it both at work and go for a long drive with their family as well.

The Ford Ranger Wildtrak 2.2L is available in three color options - Pride Orange, Shadow Black and Cool White. The pickup has an immense towing capability of 3,500 kilograms along with the best-in-class water-wading capability of 800 mm.

The pickup-derives its power from a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged Duratorq TDCi diesel engine. It is capable of churning out a maximum of 160 PS of power at 3,000 rpm, and a peak torque of 385 Nm from 1,600 to 2,600rpm. A six-speed automatic gearbox handles the transmission duties.

The Ford Ranger Wildtrak 2.2L is the best-selling vehicle from the American manufacturer in Malaysia. The sales of the pickup have jumped by 67% with 2,245 units sold in the third quarter of 2018.
