Peugeot reveals 2021 Landtrek, takes dual-cab route
KUALA LUMPUR: French automobile manufacturer Peugeot is all set to enter the increasingly popular dual-cab pickup truck segment with the 2021 Landtrek utility vehicle. The car will be primarily sold in South America, Africa, and other emerging markets.
The 2021 Landtrek retains Peugeot’s latest design language with the top-level model sporting a sophisticated front grille with metal trims, neat body contours, and crisp headlights. The bolstered rear wheel arches make the car look well proportioned. The Landtrek is based on the Changan Kaicene F70. The latter is sold in the Chinese markets after Peugeot joined hands with Changan Automobile which owns the Chana brand of passenger vehicles.
The 2021 Peugeot Landtrek measures 1,963mm in width and 5,330mm in length. The vehicle is of the same length as the present version of the dual-cab Toyota Hilux. The 2021 Landtrek is packed with several advanced features that comprise a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The Infotainment unit dominates the dashboard. There’s also an onboard 10GB hard disk drive (HDD), a number of USB ports, and multiple control buttons for various driving modes and climate settings. Some of the 2021 Landtrek models have a fully digital instrument cluster.
The 2021 Peugeot Landtrek will be hauled by a 2.4-litre petrol motor which produces 201PS maximum power and 320Nm peak torque. The turbocharged 1.9-litre diesel engine which outputs 150PS maximum power and 350Nm peak torque will be available as an option. While the petrol version will be available in a choice of a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission (AT), the diesel model will have only the manual option.
The all-wheel-drive version of the 2021 Landtrek gets 235mm ground clearance. Its other features include snow and mud driving modes, a 360-degree camera, and even an eLocker for the rear differential. Under-engine sheet metal protection plates come as standard on this version.
The 2021 Landtrek pickup will be sold in a number of cabin configurations and body styles. Peugeot will continue to sell the vehicle’s single cab model. Cabin sitting choices will include two independent captain seats and a three-seat front bench.
