Peugeot 408 bags over 300 bookings in Malaysia; deliveries now begin

KUALA LUMPUR: Alongside introducing the Landtrek Special Edition pickup at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, Peugeot Malaysia has also handed over the first batch of the all-new 408 to the first ten customers during the event.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much does the Peugeot 408 cost?

The Peugeot 408 price in Malaysia begins at RM 146,055 and goes all the way up to RM 196,055.
  • What are the key highlights of the Peugeot 408?

Based on Stellantis' advanced EMP2 platform, the Peugeot 408 is an innovative liftback model. It features an exotic design and comes equipped with a 1.6-litre Turbo PureTech engine.
  • Launched a month ago, the Peugeot 408 is an innovative liftback model that offers an ultimate blend of exotic design and SUV practicality. It is offered in three variants - Allure, Premium, and GT.

The new Peugeot model received positive feedback and attention from Malaysians, resulting in more than 300 bookings and counting since the automaker started accepting orders. If we look at the variant-wise breakdown, 60% are for the top-spec GT trim, making it the most popular choice among customers. The mid-spec Premium accounts for 22%, while the base-spec Allure variant has garnered 18% of the total bookings.

Upon delivering the first batch of the vehicle, Jamie Francis Morais, Managing Director of Stellantis Malaysia, said, “Today marks the starting point in the Peugeot 408 story as we begin delivering customer orders. The feedback and response have been positive, and we look forward to maintaining and keeping up with the momentum of the 408. We are also pleased to celebrate our first 10 owners, and we welcome them and future 408 owners to the Peugeot family.”

The new Peugeot 408 not only impressed the local auto enthusiasts but also caught the attention of His Excellency Axel Cruau, the French Ambassador to Malaysia. As a result, he selected the Peugeot 408 as the official embassy car.

What makes the Peugeot 408 desirable?

Based on the  'The Language of Attraction' philosophy, the new Peugeot 408 sports a sleek fastback silhouette, a bolder front end, and square-off rear styling. In terms of equipment, the top-spec GT trim comes with a body-colored grille, Matrix LED headlights, LED tail lights with 3D “Claw Effect,” spoiler sunroof, and 20-inch Monolithe Black wheels. Notably, this is the first Peugeot car to wear the brand’s new logo.

Just like the exterior, the cabin of the SUV is equally impressive. It boasts the latest Peugeot i-Cockpit interior with high-vent architecture. With the range-topping version, the customers get a 10-inch infotainment unit, 10-inch “3D Quartz” digital instrument cluster, 10-speaker Focal premium Hi-Fi system, and Black Nappa leather seats.

All Peugeot 408 variants are powered by a 1.6-litre Turbo PureTech engine capable of generating a maximum power of 218 hp and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Peugeot Malaysia assembles the 408 locally at its plant in Gurun, Kedah. The vehicle comes with a 7-year or 200,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects.
