Peugeot 308 2.0 HDi launched officially in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur: The Peugeot 308 which was launched in April 2015 is out now with its new diesel engine variant. This 2014 European Car of the Year is now available with a 2.0-litre HDi diesel engine unit that enables the car to generate a power torque of 370 Nm of torque, a range of 1,300 km, low CO2 emissions of 107 g/km and fuel consumption of 4.1 litres per 100 km (24.4 km/l).
The earlier variant of this car was equipped with a 1.6-litre THP 150 engine and mated with a six-speed automatic gearbox. The powertrain give the wheels a power of 150 HP and 240 Nm of torque made from 1450 to 4000 rpm. In addition to this petrol unit, the diesel unit is also expected to play fair in this game.
The speculated reason for the launch of this diesel variant for Peugeot 308 Malaysia could be the presence of already existing Peugeot 508 diesel variant (2.2 HDi with 206 PS and 450 Nm), and Citroen Grand C4 Picasso equipped with a power output of 150 HP and peak torque of 370 Nm generated from a 2.0 BlueHDi oil burner as the 308.
We actually suspect that the Peugeot 308 Malaysia 2.0 HDi will be as smooth to drive car as 1.6-litre unit or not! Because, drive reviews reveal that the 1.6-litre unit still makes 308 a flexible run, irrespective of the road condition you are driving in and around. Kudos to its Aisin-sourced six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox's smooth operation. Also, the thick-rimmed, small-diameter steering wheel is light and fast, and it gives the Peugeot 308 quick feet in an urban setting.
