Perodua Aruz receives 14,000 bookings; 4,000 units already delivered

KUALA LUMPUR: Launched back in mid-January, the Perodua Aruz has received over 14,000 bookings. These numbers came after two months of the company’s announcement in which it claimed that the Aruz booking had hit the 1,025 units mark. It also professed that 4,000 units of the vehicle have already been delivered to the buyers.

The seven-seater SUV was launched in January in two variants, namely the AV and X. And as per Perodua's Sales Managing Director, Datuk Dr Zahari Husin, the AV trim alone accounted for 85 percent of the 13,000 bookings, which Aruz received till early March.

Zahari also said “We have adjusted production to reduce the waiting time for the Aruz. This will continue in March as well.” He further thanked the buyers for their patience and support.

Perodua CEO and President, Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad also discussed the company’s ambition to increase its market share in East Malaysia. He also believed that the Aruz would prove to be the gamechanger in expanding its base in this SUV-popular region.

Moreover, the SUV was showcased through a Perodua Aruz TransBorneo Convoy event. The event kicked off on March 16 with six SUVs traversing from Kuching to Tawau (cities of Malaysia).

The 1,500 km drive will also pass through some of the major cities like Bintulu, Sibu, Kota Kinabalu, Ranau, Miri, and Sandakan. The motor-fleet will allow people of these cities to come close to the car and experience it.

The Aruz specs sheet tell us that it comes only in single engine option, that runs both the variants. The mill is a 2NR-VE 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, which is capable of churning out a maximum of 101 hp power and 133 Nm of torque.
