Performance-oriented Hyundai i30 N revealed at the KLIMS 2018
KUALA LUMPUR: News coming from Korean car maker booth, Hyundai, tells us about a good-looking, performance-oriented, hot hatchback put up for the show. It is the Hyundai i30 N that has been seen uncovered at the ongoing KLIMS 2018. And boy, oh boy, it looks very tempting.
The ‘N’ clearly states that it is a proper performance or sports car because ‘N’ badging is Hyundai’s performance series. The i30 N looks utterly gorgeous and sporty courtesy a few new parts. At the front, we have the sportier bumper that has got a red color strip running across the lowest part. The LED DRLs mounted on the side of the bumper along with the projector headlamps add to the charm. The rear of the Hyundai i30 N gets very smart tail lights, a roof-mounted spoiler, twin exhaust pipes, and a new sportier bumper with a red accent.
The inside of the Hyundai i30 N gets an all-black treatment, again, with a few red accents for added sportiness. The high-performance sports seats offer superior support and grip. You can see ‘N’ logo at places like the seats, steering wheel, and gear shift lever knob.
The car showcased at the KLIMS 2018 was loaded with the performance package. This package brings with itself a few extra or added features that are meant to enhance the car’s performance. Included in the list are - large 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/35 Pirelli P-Zero high-performance tyres.
Powered by a 2.0-litre Theta T-GDI turbocharged twin-cam E-CVVT engine, the output numbers under the performance package are a bit higher than the usual. You get 279 PS of max power that comes in at 6000 revs, and the torque generated is 353 Nm from 1450 to 4000 revs. The base variant of the i30 comes with 250 PS and 353 Nm, though. And to keep things, even more, sportier, the car comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Hyundai claims that the i30 N can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 6.1 seconds and can attain a top speed of 250 kmph. There is also a feature that allows you to increase the torque by 8% and the acceleration by 6-7% for a very short period of time.
