Parts & computer chip shortage affects Porsche Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: The global parts and semiconductor storage and its ill effect on the automotive industry is no secret. However, it doesn't seem like a problem until it affects us personally. The same happened with Porsche Malaysia, which is now experiencing the heat of the storage issue.
Porsche Malaysia cannot deliver its Taycan EV without making its customers wait for more than a year! Yes, Porsche Malaysia has announced a minimum waiting period of 13 months for the new Taycan. Unfortunately, while the reason is clear as water, no immediate solution is available.
Only a while back, the Taycan EV seemed to have gained traction among the super-rich Malaysian that were initially hesitant to buy a car with a battery. However, the first batch of cars doing well in the country has made buyers interested in the futuristic Porsche. The improved charging station infrastructure has nothing to do with interest gain, as one won't expect the super-rich to wait at a public charging station while their Taycan is recharged. Instead, the car has become more of a statement-maker, the 'lit-thing' that everyone desires.
Those willing to wait over a year for the Taycan can place an order with Sime Darby Auto Performance, the only authorised importer of Porsche in Malaysia. They provide great after-sales service and a factory warranty. Also, in case of a recall or a product issue
Only the units sold by Sime Darby Auto Performance would be eligible for a free check and replacement.
A quick recap…
