October sales record: Perodua breaks new monthly sales & production record
KUALA LUMPUR: In October 2021, Perodua Malaysia broke its own sales record by registering 27,858 vehicles. The company’s last year record was set 12 months before, i.e. October 2020 with 26,848 units. The latter also has a place in the Malaysian Book of Records.
Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said, “This achievement is our commitment towards our customers and represents a 90.67% increase from 14,160 units sold in September 2021. We are now working to further improve production especially for the rest of the year.”

Perodua’s new record comes with swift deliveries and improved production of cars to customers. As the company aims to deliver as many cars as possible in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Also, in terms of production, the month saw the highest number of car production with a total of 29,803 units produced. As per Dato’ Zainal, this achievement was beyond the company's current capacity and the best part is the staff was able to hike the production level with the same level of machinery/equipment and strength.
“We also are always mindful of both the safety and health aspect of our entire operations by ensuring that all our employees follow the COVID-19 prevention guidelines while at the same time ensuring that we go beyond all quality requirements,” Dato’ Zainal said.
The recently announced Tax Sales Exemption also gave the automotive ecosystem more room to recover from the MOC, thus allowing them to catch up with the demand.“The extension of the Tax Sales Exemption will also benefit everyone, from consumers to original equipment manufacturers to suppliers who is also affected by the global semiconductor supply shortage,” Dato’ Zainal added.
The automaker, however, experienced a dip on a year-to-date basis, as Perodua registered 146,951 units this year from Jan to Oct, which is 14.5% less in comparison to the same period last year.
