Nissan Z Proto spotted undisguised on the US roads
KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan is working hard for the launch of its next-generation Z car or 400Z, that will replace the charming, but aging 370Z. The upcoming sports car is on top of the cars’ list auto-enthusiasts cannot wait to drive. Well, before anything official comes on the production-bound version, the Nissan Z was recently spotted while driving on the US roads.
Byron Glover Jr. captured the stunning car when it was heading towards a local show The car was edged by a Nissan Titan support vehicle and the all-new Frontier; all supposed to represent Nissan's America in the event. You can check the whole video on a YouTube account, named Drive 615.
Well, this is not the first time when the Nissan Z was caught while testing. Back in March, we saw the fully undisguised images of this highly-anticipated sports model at an overseas logistic facility. In those photos, the car looked like a road-ready model with many similarities to the Z Proto shown last year in September. However, the inside images unveiled the fact that it is still in the production phase or we would say a step further in the prototype cycle. It had elements like a fully digital instrument panel, shift-by-wire selector knob, and a lever for hand braking.
The interior spy shots that went viral last month also showed the cabin of the pre-production Nissan Z wrapped in vibrant blue color and all super bing plastic here and there.
Talking about the Nissan Z engine specs, the two-seater sports car is likely to be powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine capable of generating a maximum power of 405 hp and a peak torque of 480 Nm. The same engine also powers several Infiniti cars as well as a Japan-limited model, the Skyline 400R. On the transmission front, Nissan could offer a 6-speed manual or 9-speed auto units sourced from Mercedes-Benz.
Lastly, the Nissan Z price, the expected tag reads $34,995 (RM 144,260), however, for the confirmed one, we need to wait for its official debut that is scheduled to happen late this year. Post that, it can hit the roads in spring 2022.
