Nissan Z Proto finally revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: Finally, Nissan has revealed the Proto Z sports car, after its months-long teaser trail that kept us excited and interested. Note this one is a concept with the production-spec model being the true successor of the iconic 370Z, and going by the naming trend, it might be called the 400Z.
Let's now discuss what the Z Proto concept has in stock, as it is our only window into the upcoming Nissan Z model. Starting with the design, the concept features the original silhouette of the Z model - a roofline flowing seamlessly from the nose to the squared-off rear. At the front, it gets a pair of teardrop LED headlamps with two semi-circles LED DRLs, and a carbon-fibre lower lip. The concept's side profile features carbon fibre side skirts and 19-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the car flanks carbon fibre rear diffuser, horizontal LED taillights that are connected by a rectangular black bar with the brand's moniker at the centre, and dual exhausts.
On opening the door, a clean cabin welcomes you that is done in all-black upholstery with yellow accents. Nissan Z Proto's few key highlights include -
- 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
- Touchscreen infotainment system
- Deep dish multi-functional steering wheel
Powering the Nissan Z Proto is a twin-turbo V6 powerplant that will be coupled to a manual gearbox. Unfortunately, displacement and output details are yet to be revealed by the automaker, however, we expect it to be a step ahead of its predecessor. The Nissan 370Z churns a maximum power of 332 PS and 350 PS in standard and Nismo trim, respectively.
The production-spec version of the Proto Z is expected to arrive next year. On arrival, the 400Z will compete with the upcoming Toyota Supra.
