Nissan will form a new vehicle customization and motorsports co. this year

KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan has recently announced its plan of establishing a new company with the integration of its two affiliated firms NISMO (Nissan Motorsports International Co. Ltd) and Autech. As we know, the former is the brand’s in-house tuning, motorsports, and performance subsidiary firm running since 1984. The Autech Japan Inc., on the other hand, was set up in 1986 for the development, manufacturing, and sales of converted Nissan models.

The new company is named as Nissan Motorsports & Customizing Co., Ltd. and it will start its functioning on April 1, 2022. It aims for better utilization of Autech's know-how in developing and manufacturing custom vehicles and NISMO’s brand power created through motorsports. 

Nissan Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta said: “Autech, with its wide range of expertise, is a pioneer of customized vehicles. NISMO, through motorsports and enhanced driving pleasure, is a symbol of the spirit of challenge in Nissan cars. We are confident that the integration of these two companies will bring us even closer to the pinnacle of exciting mobility we are aiming for.”

Autech and NISMO CEO Takao Katagiri said: “Both Autech and NISMO have more than 30 years’ experience and have a solid and wide fan base. By connecting the high aspirations of our employees and advanced craftsmanship for the future, we aim to reach ever greater heights as a presence loved and supported by customers.”

Nissan’s new subsidiary will be headed by Takao Katagiri. With a capital investment of 480 million yen, the company will provide approximately 600 new jobs. 

Nissan confirms that the new company not only aims for delivering exciting cars but also provide experiences that will better connect people and society.
