Nissan to debut two vehicles in coming weeks
KUALA LUMPUR: After Renault’s announcement about Kiger’s debut, its parent company Nissan didn’t take long before dropping hints about the arrival of not one but two cars - the next-gen Frontier pickup and Pathfinder crossover. Both the cars will take on the debut stage on 4th Feb, at 1:00 PM EST.
Nissan has launched a teaser website for the cars that keep all the information intact. However, the collected spy shots and rumors fill in the information gap. The upcoming Nissan Pathfinder is seen at several instances with heavy camouflage. Also, the rendering sketch by a freelance artist strips the covers off the car giving some hints about the car’s design language.
On the outside, the next-gen Pathfinder will feature Armada-like front fascia, like thich V-shaped grille and bracket-shaped running light units. The cabin will benefit from a larger infotainment system, electronic parking brake, and shift-by-wire gearshift.
The upcoming Pathfinder will share its platform with the Maxima and Altima. As for its under hood configuration, it’ll be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged mill coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Accompanying the next-gen Pathfinder, will be the Frontier pickup that was possibly seen during Navara pickup release. It’s the car seen in the middle in the above image.
If this image is accurate, then the upcoming Frontier pickup will have a boxy face blessed with blocky grille and rectangular headlights. Also, seen in the image are tiny, rectangular fog lamps that go very well with the car’s entire look.
Seen in the few cabin shy shots of the next-gen Frontier is a new infotainment system, a four-wheel-drive system controller with 2WD, 4WD Hi, and 4WD Low settings.
The next-gen Frontier is expected to be powered by the carried forward 3.8-litre V6 mill making 310 hp and 381 Nm of torque. Sending power to the wheels could be a 9-speed automatic gearbox as seen in the current version.
All the doubts about the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder and Frontier will get cleared on February 4th, with their official debut. So, stay tuned.
