Nissan Serena e-Power launched at GIIAS 2024 - From RM190k, 163PS/325Nm, coming to Malaysia next?

KUALA LUMPUR:  Nissan has revealed the pricing for the highly anticipated Serena e-Power at the 2024 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), providing a glimpse of what to expect when it arrives in Malaysia.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What's special about this Serena e-power?

The Serena e-Power is powered by an electric motor producing 163 PS and a maximum torque of 325 Nm, with a Lithium-Ion battery capacity of 1.769 kWh. The conventional HR14 1.4-liter 3-cylinder engine serves as a generator.
  • When will it come to Malaysia?

This is uncertain, but the Serena e-Power has been seen testing in Malaysia since last year
  • This versatile MPV, renowned in both Indonesia and Malaysia, now features cutting-edge e-Power electrification technology. It seamlessly combines a conventional engine, which acts as a generator to charge the battery, with an electric motor that drives the wheels, delivering an exceptional blend of efficiency and performance.

Prices start at Rp635 million (around RM190k) for the Highway Star e-POWER (4x2) A/T single-tone variant, and the two-tone variant is priced at Rp639.5 million(RM192k).

Measuring 4,765 mm in length, 1,715 mm in width, and 1,885 mm in height, the Serena e-Power offers a spacious cabin that can accommodate up to 7 passengers. Its design has undergone significant transformation, especially the front with Nissan's signature V-Motion grille, giving it a premium, robust, and modern look. The A-pillar is fitted with glass to reduce blind spots, while the rear features a minimalist design with LED combination lights.

The Serena e-Power is powered by an electric motor producing 163 PS and a maximum torque of 325 Nm, with a Lithium-Ion battery capacity of 1.769 kWh. The conventional HR14 1.4-liter 3-cylinder engine serves as a generator.

The cabin's interior features a compact and modern design, including a 12.3-inch TFT instrument panel and an equally sized head unit. Notable features include second-row captain seats that can be configured for comfort and easy access to the third row. The third-row seats can be folded and hung against the car wall to increase luggage capacity.

Nissan Indonesia also announced that Indonesia for now is the only country to receive ProPilot Assist, an advanced driver assistance system. This includes Intelligent Emergency Braking, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Intelligent Driver Attention Alert.

During GIIAS 2024, Nissan offers a special program including free maintenance for 4 years or 50,000 km, a 5-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, and a 7-year or 150,000 km warranty on the lithium-ion battery and e-Power components for those who order The All-New Nissan Serena e-Power.

For those who are not up to speed about Nissan’s e-Power, the system features a small petrol engine that generates electricity to charge a battery, which then powers an electric motor to drive the wheels. This setup provides the efficiency and smooth driving experience of an electric vehicle, while the engine only generates power, never directly driving the wheels.

The sixth-generation Nissan Serena like the one at GIIAS 2024 is anticipated to be launched in Malaysia following the sighting of a camouflaged test unit in 2023. Adding to the speculation, Nissan showcased an e-Power vehicle at the 2024 Malaysia Autoshow, hinting at its potential arrival. While the exact launch date remains uncertain, Nissan Malaysia is known for its unexpected reveals.
