Kuala Lumpur: Edaran Tan Chong Motors issue recalls for faulty airbag inflators. The Japanese automaker have announced campaigns covering different units for models - Nissan X-Trail bought between 2002 and 2007, Nissan Teana (2004) and Liberty (2003).
Organizing this campaign requests customers of the above-mentioned cars to bring their automobiles to be inspected at the nearest Tan Chong Express Auto Service Centre (TCEAS) outlet.
Back in June 2015, ETCM confirmed a total of 12,444 Nissan units in Malaysia are involved in its front passenger airbag inflator Service Campaign. This had instigated the company to activate their service campaign where all labour and replacement parts under the campaign will be at no cost to the owners.

In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking and seriously injuring the passenger seat occupant or other occupants.
Owners of all vehicles on which a defective air bag may have been installed either as original equipment or as a replacement, will be notified. Dealers will inspect vehicles, and where a defective air bag inflator is identified, the inflator will be replaced, free of charge.

ETCM has even advanced the process further by providing the owners a chance to get their vehicle status about safety issues by calling on the provided Customer Service Hotline number. Calling on the number, owners can easily find out if their vehicle are involved in the campaign or not. Also, there is a sacred Service Campaign tab provided on the official Malaysian website wherein you can retrieve similar information. The company also urge those that have previously checked to re-validate their vehicles due to a system re-classification.
For current Nissan vehicle sales, this exercise is not applicable nor there are changes of any anomaly in terms of safety and airbags system.
