Nissan NV200: Reasons to buy

We don’t need to tell you the large footprint that Nissan has in the Malaysian market. But we do need to let you that Nissan also deals in commercial vehicles. Not many people are aware of this. One of the best commercial vans that Nissan has here in Malaysia is the NV200. It isn’t something that earlier had been a personal vehicle and later transformed into a commercial van. The sole purpose of the Nissan NV200 is to carry out commercial duties. So, today we are going to discuss a few reasons to buy the NV200.

 

Styling

Even though the Nissan NV200 is a commercial van, that didn’t stop Nissan to make it look pleasing to the eyes. And that is a good thing. You’ll notice the front of the NV200 has a pair of somewhat stretched out headlamps which along with the grille and black bumper gives it a happy look. Of course, to keep the cost in check, the headlamps aren’t LEDs but conventional halogens.

We also like the side look of the NV200. Nissan has used the lower line of the headlight assembly to mark the lower portion of the front door ‘s window. Good work, there. The white paint job and black door handles are a good contrast. The rear of the NV200 features decent-size vertically stacked tail lights.

Engine

The 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine is sufficient to fit Nissan NV200 specs. It has got 109 PS of max power that is produced at 6000 rpm and the peak torque of 152 Nm kicks in at 4400 rpm. The ECCS (Electronic Fuel Injection System) is programmed to deliver a precise amount of fuel at the right time for good performance and fuel efficiency.

Nissan has provided a 5-speed manual transmission with the NV200. Giving an automatic or a CVT doesn’t make any sense. So all good here.

Interior

Since it is a commercial vehicle, there aren’t any high-end luxurious features available in the interior of the Nissan NV200. The fit and finish are well done, the quality of material used is pretty good, and there are multiple storage spaces to keep everyday work items. The gear lever is made an integral part of the dashboard to free up space between the seats.

The instrument cluster is pretty basic but it does have a high-tech multi-function meter that provides all the information that is required to help you drive economically like engine revs, fuel consumption, upshift indication, and available range. The seats are quite comfortable and are made of fabric. There is a 1DIN audio system with 2 speakers. The AC here in, of course, manual. However, the urethane steering wheel, which doesn’t have any mounted controls, is electric and hence helps in easy maneuverability of the van.

Safety features

The NV200 specs sheet gets front airbags as standard. Nissan has also provided an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) to enhance the braking performance of the vehicle. Other than that there is an immobilizer and reverse parking sensors

Loading space

Nissan designed the loading space of the NV200 to accommodate as much cargo as possible. The length of the NV200 reaches 2.04 m and hence it is sufficient to store 2 Euro Pallets without any hesitation. The 4.2 cubic meter of cargo volume and 740 kg of max payload capacity is class leading. The low floor height, high rood, and wide space enable easy loading and unloading of goods.

The passenger seat can be folded to fit in longer items at the back. Also, the two sliding doors make it convenient to access the loading bay in tight spots. The same thing goes with the rear doors which have a 60:40 opening configuration.

The Nissan NV200 variants available in Malaysia are two - 1.6L PANEL VAN and 1.6L SEMI-PANEL VAN. Both of them are available in only a single color - white. The NV200 price for the base former model is RM 72,500 and RM 76,500 for the latter.
