Nissan Middle East gets a new version of Terra SUV, the 2021 X-Terra

KUALA LUMPUR: As promised, the updated version of the Terra SUV has landed in the Middle East. Known as the 2021 X-Terra, the model showcases a full redesign and would make its way to other ASEAN markets soon.

How does the new X-Terra look?

Compared to the ongoing Terra SUV, the new version showcases an entirely redesigned front fascia, borrowing design clues from the Patrol and latest-gen Navara.

Moving on to the specifics, the front gets a massive V-motion grille unit partially blending with the C-shaped LED headlamps with quad projectors and vertical fog lamps. Also, part of the package is faux front fender vents and upturned centre air intake.

The side profile benefits from several chrome elements (door handles, ORVMs, side steps, and roof rails). For the 2021 model year, the SUV is available with more than one wheel options- 17- and 18-inch alloy options.

Likewise, the rear also features several upgrades including reshaped tail lights, arched-shaped bold strip bulging over the taillights and company’s badge. The bumper sports wide reflectors adding to the car’s rugged profile.

2021 Nissan X-Terra cabin features

The X-Terra cabin seems to be heavily inspired by the automaker’s latest models including the new Almera, Leaf, and Micra. On-board now is a whole new dash layout, premium-looking switchgear along with plenty of high-tech features including -

  • 9-inch touch display for NissanConnect infotainment system
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support
  • 7-inch multi-info instrument cluster
  • Digital rear-view mirror with camera
  • Qi wireless charging
  • Climate controls for each seat
  • A USB-C port
  • Bose sound system
  • Zero gravity seats (1st & 2nd row)

Optional features -

  • HDMI-equipped 11-inch flip down monitor
  • Acoustic side window & glass windscreen

What powers the new X-Terra SUV?

Powering the 2021 X-Terra is a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine making a maximum power of 165 hp at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 241 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

Depending on the variant, the power is transmitted to the front or all-four wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission. Nissan claims the new SUV to deliver an impressive fuel economy of 11.4 kmpl.

New Nissan X-Terra safety kit

Like all the other elements - design, power, and features, the 2021 X-Terra also exhibits a strong safety profile. The SUV comes with a range of Intelligent Mobility safety systems like lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, 360-degree camera system with Moving Object Detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

The new X-Terra price tag for the Middle East reads US$27,200 (approx. RM 111,100) without VAT and will go on sale starting next month.
