Nissan introduces the racing-inspired Concept 20-23 in Europe

KUALA LUMPUR: To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Nissan Design Europe, Nissan has unveiled an all-new sporty urban electric concept car called the Concept 20-23. It is a compact hatchback inspired by the online racing arena and the brand's participation in Formula E.

Upon unveiling this unique concept, Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s Senior Vice President for global design, said, “The young team here at NDE was given a simple brief: design a fun electric city car that you’d like to drive every day in London. The 20-23 Concept that they designed is a compact hatchback which is strongly influenced by the online racing world. I love the story it tells about how the worlds of modern city living, online gaming and zero emissions mobility intersect.”

If you're curious about the origin of the name "Concept 20-23," it symbolises both NDE's two-decade presence in the heart of London and the company’s traditional number 2 (ni) 3 (san) and the current year.

The key highlights of the racing-inspired Nissan Concept 20-23 are - 

• The three-door hatchback features aerodynamic enhancements with deep skirts directing airflow and cooling brakes
• The front design features an unexpectedly clean surface and sleek LED headlights with a distinctive semi-circle shape

• Adding to the car’s muscular stance are extended wheel arches, vented louvres, and angular air outlets behind the front and rear wheels
• The rear lights also feature the semi-circle LED design as seen on the front. These are paired with a large single-piece rear spoiler enhancing downforce without compromising rear visibility
• The car is sprayed with a textured grey finish, emphasising its rugged design

• The Nissan Concept 20-23 minimalistic interior is trimmed in near-white finish and features bucket seats and scissor doors
• The driver's cockpit includes a sports steering wheel with multiple controls, electric powertrain adjustment paddles, and a carbon-fibre steering column mount
