Nissan GT-R Could See More Potential Upgrades
Kuala Lumpur: The next-generation Nissan GT-R could potentially see even more upgrades as told by Phillipe Klein, Nissan's head of product planning. Originally launched in 2008, this car was not able to cope up with the competition posed by current 2015 crop of supercars. Keeping that in mind, the automaker has thought of the development potential.

Klein said, “You know, it’s a never ending quest. When you see what we have done with the GT-R Nismo, it’s an interesting development, I do believe” He further added “We are very serious about this vehicle and its future. There is still development potential there, always”. In spite of all the improvements the Japanese automaker has made over the last seven years of GT-R, it still believes that it has even more potential.
Currently, the flagship GT-R variant is integrated with an upgraded 3.8-litre V6 engine which churns out a maximum power of 600 hp along with a commanding torque of 652 Nm. Further, it is mated to a six-speed dual clutch transmission which sends power to all the four wheels. Other information divulged also states that it would be a front-engined vehicle. The new version is expected to be inspired by the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo. Under the hood, it could be powered by a hybrid powertrain which is also employed in the GT-R LM Nismo race car. “The GT-R is a very closed concept. When you have these kinds of assets, you are not trying to dilute the asset.” said Klein.

Any upgrades for the R35 should arrive in near future because the R36 is rumoured to be unveiled in 2018. The automaker is believed to be targeting a 0-100 kmph sprint in just 2.7 seconds and a top speed above 340 kmph for the R36.
