Next-gen Skoda Fabia revealed with bolder looks and more tech
KUALA LUMPUR: After much teasing, Skoda finally pulled the wraps off the all-new fourth generation 2021 Fabia in the Czech Republic recently. And, we tell you this generational update is really big. The hatchback has grown in size, received more stunning looks, loaded with increased creature comforts, much-advanced safety, and driver-assistance systems, and whatnot.
"The latest generation has everything it needs, and even more, to build on the success of its predecessors without hindrance. The new Fabia offers more space than the competition, great connectivity, advanced security systems, and an emotional design,” said Thomas Schaefer, CEO at Skoda Auto.
Based on Volkswagen Group’s modular architecture, the MQB-A0, the hatchback is now longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor. The wheelbase has also grown which allows more space for passengers inside the cabin. Even the boot space is now 50 litres more at 380 litres, which is expandable up to 1,190 litres.
Speaking about the exterior design, the new Fabia front fascia now has a more prominent butterfly grille flanked by LED headlight units and prominent character lines. At the rear lies a new set of LED tail lights with the signature crystalline effect and a bigger roof spoiler. The hatchback now runs on uniquely designed alloy wheels, with sizes ranging from 14 to 18-inches.
Getting inside the overhauled Fabia cabin, it is decked up with an all-black theme having a nice touch of contrast with a chrome bar running across the dash and copper accents around the central console and door armrests. There is a 9.2-inch infotainment system in the centre and circular AC vents on either side of the dashboard. Included in the list of creature comforts are
