Next-gen Peugeot 3008 and 5008 to unveil in Q2 2023; EV trims also on cards
KUALA LUMPUR: During the recently held E-LION event, the French automaker Peugeot talked about its development strategies for the coming years. Among the company’s several exciting and hopeful plans is the introduction of the next-gen models of the brand’s popular SUVs - 3008 and 5008.

Equipped with large batteries, the Peugeot e-3008 is expected to offer a range of up to 700 km on a single charge.Peugeot has confirmed that the global premiere of the all-new 3008 and 5008 will be held in the second half of 2023. The fully-electric trims of both models - e-3008 and e-5008, will be a part of the range in line with the brand’s electrification push.
While the automaker did not reveal the changes in the non-electric models, it did spill some beans on their electric counterparts. As per that, the brand will first introduce the e-3008 first, which will be its first model to underpin the all-new STLA Medium platform. It can accommodate large batteries and is expected to offer a range of up to 700 km on a single charge.
The said platform can also host a slew of other advanced technologies such as -
- A wide range of connectivity and AI capabilities that can support autonomous driving in the future
- A steer-by-wire system enabling “new ways to control the vehicle”
- Next-generation of Peugeot’s i-Cockpit dashboard design
- Revamped interior space and function
The BEV-focused platform will also help the engineers to take on a completely new design language by offering “more flexibility and freedom to reimagine the overall proportions.”
While Peugeot did not mention about the upcoming e-5008 specs, it is also likely to be based on the same platform with most of the features shared between the two EVs.
A quick glance at Peugeot electrification roadmap
The automaker aims to become a 100% fully battery-electric vehicle brand by 2025 with a goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2038. It will be rolling out the electrified models of its entire lineup in 2023 along with the introduction of a new range of 48V mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrains.
