Next-gen Ford Ranger global reveal on November 24

KUALA LUMPUR: After teasing the next-gen Ford Ranger a few times, Ford is set to unveil the model in full. The debut of the global version will be hosted by Ford Australia with a live broadcast on its Youtube channel on November 24 at 6:00 P.M. local time. 

With the announcement, Ford dropped yet another teaser image and clip showcasing the design process of the highly-awaited pickup truck. It reveals a shadowy interpretation of the truck’s front fascia featuring the familiar C-shaped daytime running lights. The Ranger spy shots have revealed a front end resembling the Maverick and the F-150.

In the accompanying statement, Ford described its efforts of building the revamped Ranger. It conducted more than 5,000 interviews with truck owners to learn what the customers want from a pickup. It also held workshops in several parts of the world to know how the Ranger owners use their pickups and to know their feedback. Not only that, but the company also asked about the improvements they need to see in the next-gen Ranger. 

The model developed after taking into consideration the customers’ voice and the rigorous engineering is said to be the most capable Ranger ever. It is "designed to go more places, work harder and offer more comfort and refinement than ever before,” says Ford. 

The upcoming version has been tested for around 10,000 km (6,213 miles) of desert driving, which is equivalent to 1,250,000 km (776,714 miles) of customer driving according to the automaker. 

About the 2022 Ford Ranger engine specs, the automaker has not yet revealed anything. The reports suggest a plug-in hybrid engine and a pair of turbodiesels viz a 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder and a more powerful 3.0-litre V6. A 10-speed automatic transmission is also expected to be a part of the mix.

Inside the cabin, the all-new Ford Ranger is likely to get some advanced tech features, including a 12-inch fully digital driver's display, a bigger 15.5-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and more.

The upcoming Ford Ranger will be sold in more than 180 countries all over the globe. And it will serve as a base for the next Volkswagen Amarok as part of the tie-up between the two auto giants.
