New Rimac Nevera electric hypercar runs 100 kmph in 1.97 seconds

KUALA LUMPUR: Back in 2018, the Croatian automaker Rimac unveiled the C_Two electric hypercar in prototype form. Now, after three years, here comes its production version with a new name. It is now called Nevera, which refers to a powerful, and unexpected lightning storm that occurs across the Mediterranean Sea.

Let’s kick off the details with under the hood configuration. The setup gets four electric motors that churn out a stratospheric output of 1914 PS along with a massive peak torque of 2360 Nm. The figures sound familiar? Yes, you get it right the Pininfarina Battista also has similar levels because the Rimac supplies the powertrain for it.

So, how fast can the Nevera hypercar go? Well on this front also, the Croatian beast got amazing numbers. It can hit the 100 kmph mark in mere 1.97 seconds, 300 kmph only in 9.3 seconds, and can attain an electronically limited speed of 412 kmph. This is really impressive considering the hypercar’s weight that measures 2,150 kg despite having a carbon-fibre monocoque.

The Stopping power is handled by 390 mm Brembo carbon-ceramic brake discs and a grippy set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres shod with 20-inch wheels.

The car has a 120-kWh battery pack that comprises 6,960 battery cells, offering a WLTP claimed range of 550 km on a single charge. Using a 500-kW fast charger, it gets charged from zero to 80 percent in just 22 minutes.

The company's founder, Mate Rimac stated, "This is it. This is the car I had in mind when I embarked on the 'impossible' journey ten years ago. All our hard work has resulted in the Nevera - our record-breaking hypercar. This car was born to outperform, and to raise the bar, redefining the norm for performance cars. And not only in performance - but as an all-around package."

Rimac will produce only 150 examples of this speed demon at its production facility on the outskirts of Zagreb, Croatia. Each unit will be beautifully crafted with Rimac's signature 'cravat' on the flank. Looking extremely similar to the C_Two, the Nevera gets changes in the form of new diffusers and splitters that according to the automaker provided a 34% extra aerodynamic efficiency to the car. It also has an active aerodynamics system that independently moves its hood's profile, rear diffuser, and wing.

Inside the cockpit, the Rimac Nevera gets a total of three screens, one for the driver's instrument panel, one in the center console, and the last one for the passenger display. For more ease of the driver, there is also a mobile app that provides live track data for better analysis of the car’s performance.

Also, the electric hypercar is equipped with Rimac's artificial intelligence Driver Coach. It uses the Nvidia Pegasus operating system, mated to 13 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and six radar sensors. The system helps in optimizing the driver's on-track performance. Seven available different driving modes also including Sport, Drift, Comfort, Range, Track, and two custom modes.
