The 2024 Porsche Taycan features enhanced styling inside and out, upgraded chassis and suspension systems, new technology, and improved performance. When will the new Taycan go on sale?
The new Porsche Taycan is expected to hit the US showroom in May this year at a starting price of $99,400 (approx RM 473,392).Starting with drivetrain improvements, the updated Taycan gains a new, lighter rear-axle motor that makes 100 PS more than its predecessor. There is also a modified pulse inverter, more powerful batteries, revised thermal management, and a modified recuperation and all-wheel-drive strategy adding to the efficiency.
The base Taycan now produces 82 PS more than before while the Taycan Turbo S enjoys an additional 190 PS when using Launch Control. The latter takes the total system output higher to 952 PS/1100 Nm, making it the most powerful production Porsche to date.
The significant boost in power further leads to a faster acceleration time. The Taycan and Taycan Turbo S now run from zero to 100 kmph in 4.8 and 2.4 seconds, respectively, which is almost half a second quicker than the outgoing versions. There is a new 'push-to-pass' feature in the Sport Chrono Package, which offers a 10-second power boost.
Coming to the chassis upgrades, here the EV embraces the adaptive air suspension as standard, while the new Porsche Active Ride suspension can be ordered as an option for all models with all-wheel drive.
The updated Taycan can also charge faster thanks to the new performance battery that has a longer fast-charging window, allowing for sustained high charging speeds even in colder temperatures. Figuratively, the EV can charge at 800-volt DC stations up to 320 kW, which is 50 kW more than before.
The 2024 Porsche Taycan EV also boasts a more attractive design and extensive customization options. Styling updates include -
- New front and rear design elements with emphasis on clean lines and wider appearance.
- High-resolution LED headlights with HD-Matrix Design and distinctive four-point graphics enhance visibility and aesthetics
- Three-dimensional Porsche logo in rear light strip with illuminated option, featuring welcome/leaving animations.
- New colour options for customization
Interior upgrades include standard door sill protectors in brushed aluminium for base models. However, leather-free interior packages are available as optional in Black and Black/Slate Grey.
In terms of technology, the EV gets the following updates -
- An enhanced user interface on the instrument cluster, central display, and optional passenger display, with added functions
- Deeper integration of Apple CarPlay into vehicle displays and functions
- In-car video function for video streaming on central and passenger displays
- Standard mode switch on the steering wheel for easier access
- Special push-to-pass button on mode switch for Taycan models with Sport Chrono package and Performance Battery Plus
- Improved control lever behind the steering wheel for more intuitive operation of driver assistance systems
Also, the expanded list of standard features includes Lane Change Assist, a heated steering wheel, and wireless charging.
