New Mitsubishi Triton makes an appearance at 2018 KLIMS

KUALA LUMPUR: The KLIMS 2018 has had some excitement with a plethora of new launches right from the very beginning. Hence, keeping pace with the event, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has debuted the refreshed 2019 Triton in the country, following the global debut earlier this month in Thailand.

New Mitsubishi Triton

The 2019 Mitsubishi Triton holds the company’s Dynamic Shield design up front and exhibits a very sporty appearance. The front hood has been made higher by around 100 mm, while there are some more new additions like bi-LED headlights, LED tail lights and a new set of alloy wheels.

The cab of the mini truck has also received a lot of changes, the main focus being on the switch bits and the centre console. The company has used the soft-touch material on various places around the driver like on the parking brake lever, inner door inserts and the armrests. Some other cool additions to the cab are the smartphone tray and USB ports behind the centre armrest (for the rear row) as well as below the buttons at the front (for the front row). The rear row also gets AC vents, albeit mounted on the roof.

New Mitsubishi Triton SIDE

Mechanically, the 2019 Mitsubishi Triton will be getting the 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine that will be paired with a new 6-speed automatic gearbox instead of the old 5-speed unit.

Some other mechanic bits include an Advanced Safety suite as well as the Super Select 4WD II, taken from the latest iteration of the Pajero Sport. This 4WD has four modes - Rock, Sand, Mud/Snow and Gravel). The advanced safety system includes the Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Forward Collision Mitigation.

New Mitsubishi Triton REAR

Having said all of that, what is more exciting is that Mitsubishi has already started taking bookings for the new Triton. The official launch will take place sometime in the first quarter of 2019, with the price ranging between RM 100,000 and RM 140,000.
