Mitsubishi recently claimed the prestigious iF Design Award 2024 for its new Triton pickup truck and XForce compact SUV.How are entries evaluated for the iF Design Award 2024?
A total of 11,000 entries from 72 countries were reviewed by a panel of 132 international design experts. Each submission was assessed based on criteria such as originality, aesthetics, functionality, uniqueness, and significance.Speaking on the occasion, Seiji Watanabe, division general manager of design, Mitsubishi Motors expressed gratitude for the prestigious accolade, stating, "We are truly honored to receive one of the most distinguished design awards in the world for the two all-new models we launched this fiscal year.”
"I believe each model was recognized for expressing its own character in a unique form – the Triton shows a daring expression, and the Xforce adopts an agile look – while also combining robustness, which is typical of Mitsubishi Motors' design. This award will become our driving force in introducing the Triton and the Xforce to even more customers," he added.
The all-new sixth-generation Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck made its global debut in Thailand last July. From the platform to styling to the engine, every aspect of the vehicle has been redesigned and improved to make it stand out in both performance and appearance.
The pickup benefits from the ‘Beast Mode’ design concept featuring an evolved Dynamic Shield fascia with a three-dimensional grille bracketed by new 3-light L-shaped LED lights and new daytime running lights. It also boasts an upmarket interior, upgraded suspension, and a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.
The Mitsubishi XForce, on the other hand, is the brand’s new compact SUV revealed at the Gaikindo Indonesia Auto Show 2023 last August. The vehicle underpins the Silky & Solid design concept with the upper part expressing an airy silkiness with a floating roof and a sleek surface and the lower part adopting the solid and powerful proportions of an SUV. It features an evolved iteration of the Dynamic Shield face with a three-dimensional pattern and front and rear lights featuring T-shaped signatures.
The ‘Horizontal Axis’ interior concept of the SUV has a low-positioned dashboard and a 12.3-inch central monolithic display incorporating a multimeter display that pays tribute to the original Pajero.
